False Wakeup

6/29/10

Around 5am, I woke up on the futon, then decided to shave, shower, and go back to my real bed. I managed to stay asleep for about an hour, woke up, then my eyes teetered between open, shut, and squinty, in a continuous cycle. I heard my front door open and close with footsteps approaching. As the footstep sounds became closer, I heard the bathroom door open and close. I felt powerless and was unable to move! I then heard water running from the bathroom sink. “Oh shit” I thought, “someone’s in my bathroom!!” With my eyes still “flickering”, I tried to get up, but I couldn’t move. I heard the bathroom door open and close again, but with no footsteps. My cell phone chimed…an incoming text message sound. At this point, I was able to move and got out of bed. I checked my cell phone, but with no message. Sleep paralysis can be fun (or scary), depending on how you look at it.
